Annapolis Royal Area Students Celebrate Renovated School

Education and Early Childhood Development

Premier Stephen McNeil joined students and families from Annapolis Royal and surrounding communities today, Nov. 9, to celebrate major upgrades at Annapolis West Education Centre.

Government invested more than $6.9 million dollars and worked closely with the Annapolis Valley Regional School Board to provide grades 6 to 12 students with a fully renovated modern school, including state-of-the-art facilities and technology.

The school contains a skilled trades centre and spaces within the building have been re-purposed, such as the cafeteria, library, administration area, music room, and a new active healthy living centre.

"We are making an investment in education and this school will not only provide a modern learning space for students to achieve their goals, but serve as a centre for the entire community," said Premier McNeil.

"We are committed to capital projects that will ensure our schools are safe, modern and well-equipped for the future."

The multi-million dollar project took place over the past two years.

About 400 students are attending the renovated school.
