Community Facility Improvement Funding for Cape Breton Regional Municipality Projects

Funding for projects in Cape Breton Regional Municipality will contribute to the strength and growth of local communities.

MLA David Wilton, on behalf of Communities, Culture and Heritage Minister Tony Ince, announced today, Aug. 12, projects that will receive grants under the Community Facility Improvement Program.

"Community facilities make it easier for individuals and families to enjoy what their communities have to offer," said Mr. Wilton. "Investing in these facilities is a direct investment in our communities."

The three projects that will receive funding in Cape Breton Regional Municipality are:

• Lingan Heritage Society: $15,000, interior and exterior renovations
• Reserve Mines Seniors and Pensioners Club: $50,000, interior and exterior renovations
• New Victoria Volunteer Fire Department: $22,250, interior and exterior renovations

"We at the Reserve Mines Seniors and Pensioners Club would like to thank Minister Tony Ince for the grant of $50,000," said Mel Bryden, vice-president of the Reserve Mines Seniors and Pensioners Club. "This money will go towards a new kitchen which will cost around $100,000."

Grants from the Community Facility Improvement Program help community groups and other not-for-profit organizations develop facilities to continue to bring communities together. They will build, expand and improve existing community facilities, while contributing to the growth of the local economy. Government is investing more than $1 million for 48 upgraded facilities around the province.
