Nova Scotia Works Providing Information Sessions for Sears Workers

Employees impacted by the restructuring of Sears stores in Nova Scotia are invited to attend information sessions through Nova Scotia Works Centres to learn about available employment services and supports.

“We know this is a difficult time for people who work for the company and we’re concerned for those who are impacted,” said Labour and Advanced Education Minister Labi Kousoulis. “That’s why we’re hosting these sessions and will continue to work with the company and impacted workers to help them find other jobs or explore retraining options.”

Hosted by Labour and Advanced Education, the information sessions are on:

• July 11, 9 a.m., Job Junction, 6950 Mumford Rd., Halifax
• July 11, 10 a.m., YMCA Employment Centre, 5 Cumberland Dr., Cole Harbour
• July 12, 1 p.m., Futurworx, 42 Inglis St., Truro
• July 13, 9 a.m., Futurworx, 42 Inglis St., Truro.

The sessions will provide information to affected workers about the supports available to them and to assist them in developing plans for returning to work.

Nova Scotia Works Centres help Nova Scotians understand, prepare for, and fill the needs of the province’s job market. They also help businesses recruit, manage and develop the talent they need to be more productive here at home and around the world. Located throughout the province, these centres are operated by local organizations and financially supported by the Province of Nova Scotia and the Government of Canada.
