Response to Auditor General Report

Health and Wellness

The following is a statement from Health and Wellness Minister Randy Delorey:

The Department of Health and Wellness is working closely with the Nova Scotia Health Authority to address recommendations outlined by the auditor general today, Nov. 22.

The auditor general’s findings highlight some of the challenges in three of government’s priority areas – primary care, continuing care and mental health. The report identifies areas for improvement and also validates the work underway to better plan, co-ordinate and deliver health services to Nova Scotians.

Everyone agrees changes are needed in the health-care system. We want Nova Scotians to get the care they need, when they need it – whether it is provided by doctors, nurses, social workers, mental health professionals, or others. We’re making progress on several fronts and we’re committed to addressing concerns.
