EDUCATION--School Code of Conduct Pilot Project Announced
A pilot project in the Annapolis Valley will help deal with
suspended students and those at risk of expulsion. Education
Minister Jane Purves today announced funding for the project that
will help apply the province's new code of conduct. The code of
conduct sets the context for a safe and productive learning
environment by outlining expected behaviour in schools.

to 1,000 new computers the provincial government is putting in

EDUCATION--Minister Unveils Plan to Improve Education
Students will have more time to learn the basics, and parents
will get better information about how their children are doing as
a result of Learning for Life, the provincial government's plan
to improve the quality of education in Nova Scotia. The plan was
developed based on consistent themes from parents, students,
teachers and school boards. Education Minister Jane Purves
unveiled Learning for Life today, Sept. 24.

EDUCATION--Minister Seeks Mediator
Education Minister Jane Purves has requested a mediator to help
the province and the Nova Scotia Teachers Union reach a
settlement in contract negotiations. In a letter sent to the
David Morse, Minister of Environment and Labour, Wednesday, Sept.
18, Ms. Purves said the request is intended to keep talks moving
and to get an agreement between the parties.
