Description of Organization:
The Halifax Chamber of Commerce is a voluntary, not-for-profit organization that represents business interests and provides leadership that benefits Metro Halifax. The Chamber consists of a number of key volunteer committees in the areas of Provincial and Municipal Government Affairs, Transportation, Health and Education and advisory groups on Energy Security and Immigration. Another essential role of the Chamber is to provide networking opportunities for its members and occasions for members to showcase their businesses. This is accomplished by holding more than 80 events annually, including luncheons, dinners, Issues Breakfasts, a golf tournament, and Commerce Connections networking events

Description of Membership:
The Chamber's membership consists primarily of businesses in the metro Halifax area. Approximately 70% of the Chamber's 1700 members are small business. Description 
The Halifax Chamber of Commerce is a not for profit business advocacy organization. The Chamber’s key areas of focus are on subject matters of broad public policy affecting business in metro Halifax. The Chamber is a grass-roots, member driven organization. We do not have specific lobbying subject matter set out for any particular time period. Each year, members of the Chamber Executive meet with key government officials to provide a briefing on the Chamber’s key advocacy areas for the year. Currently, the Chamber’s advocacy focus is around (but not limited to) the following areas: Education, Business Climate Provincial Finance, Taxation, Promoting a Healthy Workforce, Transportation (Road, Port/Rail and Air) and Immigration.   View
