Description of Organization:
CCUA works on behalf of its members in four key areas: - Advocacy and Government Relations to ensure national public policy recognizes the distinctiveness and strength of credit unions and caisses populaires; - National Regulatory and Network Compliance, which includes a focus on payments network compliance; - Professional Development and Education of credit union employees and board members; - National Awareness Building, which focuses on promoting the value and importance of Canada's credit unions and caisses populaires in local communities and to the Canadian economy.

Description of Membership:
The Canadian Credit Union Association (CCUA) is the national credit union trade association, representing Canada’s credit unions, caisses populaires (outside of Quebec), and regional credit union Central organizations. CCUA is distinct in its commitment to co-operative values, and is the first, national credit union governed organization in Canada. The CCUA Board of Directors is comprised of the following individuals: Stephen Bolton (Chair); Graham Wetter (Vice-Chair); Allison Chaytor-Loveys; Don Coulter; Larry Davey; José Gallant; Kelly Harris; Paul Kelly; Michael Leonard; Garth Manness; Bill Maurin; Robert Moreau; Keith Nixon; Kevin Sitka; Malcolm Stoffman; Marilyn Loewen Mauritz.

In Nova Scotia, specific areas of focus include the Credit Union Act, the Small Business Loan Guarantee Program, increasing awareness of credit unions' role in the province's financial services sector, commitment to improving adult financial literacy, and describing credit unions' contribution to government public policy objectives.   View
