Description of Organization:
Description of Organization: The Heart and Stroke Foundation is a volunteer-driven organization, whose mission is to further the prevention and reduction of death and disability from heart disease and stroke through the support of research, education and the promotion of healthy living. The Heart and Stroke Foundation also advances its mission through government relations, with a focus on bringing about healthy public policy. These efforts are supported by volunteers and staff, through funds raised in communities across the country. HSF does not recevie government funds to support core operations. HSF receives project specific funds that very annually.

Description of Membership:
Description of Membership: Members are annual or lifetime. Each person who has served as a director of the Foundaation since 1990 and the initial members of the Provincial Board has the option to become n annual or lifetime member by paying a fee as determined by the board of directors. Description 
Current registration period: The Heart and Stroke Foundation activities will be focused on the creation, implementation and maintenance of healthy public policy. For the current period, the Heart and Stroke Foundation will co-operate with government (and its departments) to improve health promotion by providing policy options and solutions in the areas of physical activity, chronic disease prevention, workplace health, land use planning, and transportation. As well, the Heart and Stroke Foundation will seek government support in the promotion of programs that enhance and improve cardiovascular and cerebrovascular outcomes in Nova Scotia.   View
