Fixed Roof and Campground Accommodation Licence

Who Needs This Licence?
  1. Anyone providing one or more rental units in Nova Scotia for the use of the traveling or vacationing public.
  2. Anyone in Nova Scotia using, maintaining, operating or managing land as grounds for camping or for the overnight parking of recreational vehicles.

This includes but is not limited to:

  • Hostels
  • Bed and Breakfasts, Vacation Homes
  • Cottages/Cabins, Hotels/Motels
  • Country Inns, Resorts
  • Hunting and Fishing Lodges
  • Campgrounds

Application Forms & Process:


There are two different ways to submit your application form:

  1. You can fill it in online. To do this, you must be able to pay by Visa, American Express or MasterCard credit card. We cannot accept any form of debit card at this time. If you wish to apply online, click here.

  2. You can send in a completed form:

    In Person: To many Access NS Centre; or
    By Mail: Application and payment should be sent directly to Nova Scotia Business Registry P.O. Box 1529 Halifax, NS B3J 2Y4.

Waiting Period:

Initial application: 30 business days
Renewals: 5 to 7 business days
Provided all items that must accompany the application have been received.

Expiry & Renewal:

This licence is valid for one year, covering the period from April 1 to March 31. The renewal process is started by Tourism Nova Scotia, which mails a renewal form to each licence holder each spring.

Price, Payment Methods and Locations (no tax is charged):

Fees for new application and ownership change as of April 1, 2013.

Licence fees are based on the total number of units.

76-100 $150.45
100+ $180.50

Special event camping area: The fee for a licence is $180.50.

All fees are valid from April 1 to March 31.

Drop Off
Most Access Nova Scotia Centre will accept renewal and payment.
