Quarterly tax returns

You’ll continue to receive quarterly tax returns at the address you have on file until you cancel your IFTA Licence. Penalties and interest apply to any late tax returns.

Returning your licence

Once the licence is cancelled, you need to return the original IFTA Licence and all licence copies. You also need to destroy all decals.

What you need to do

  1. Complete the form.
  2. Check the form for details on all required supporting documents.
  3. Send the completed form and supporting documents by mail. Or drop them off at the Business Registration Unit.

How long it takes

It should take 2 weeks to cancel your IFTA Licence. It can take longer if more information is needed or if your form hasn’t been filled in correctly.

Cost

There is no cost to submit the form.

Before you start

Make sure you have:

  • your IFTA account number
  • owner, partner or corporate officer of the IFTA Licence holder available to sign the form (signature of an agent, office manager or tax preparer isn’t accepted)
