Nova Scotia Environment and Climate Change

Pesticide (Commercial Or Restricted) Certificate

Who Needs This Certificate?

Anyone who wants to use or sell commercial class pesticides, or restricted class pesticides. A business either selling commercial or restricted class pesticides, or selling a service of applying these pesticides must also be certified as a Business Operator.

Note: A certificate is not required for homeowners applying domestic class pesticides on their own property.

Apply online or any Regional or District Office of Environment and Climate Change or email enquiries to PesticideApplications@novascotia.ca

Application Forms & Process:

You can download a copy of this application form or you can get one from any Regional or District Office of the Department.

When the application is completed, email it to the Department at PesticideApplications@novascotia.ca, along with the appropriate fee.

You may have the option to participate in Continuing Education Points program to renew your certification.

Business Operator certificates are required for any business hiring themselves out to perform pesticide work for other people/businesses. Application form for a pesticide business.

  • Processing time: A maximum of 60 days, provided that all submission documents are complete
Expiry & Renewal:

Applicator and Vendor certificates are valid for 5 years. It can be renewed. Note: It is the responsibility of the permit holder to contact the Department before it expires; a NOTICE OF RENEWAL will NOT be sent out by the Department.

Business Operator Certificates are valid for 1 year.

Price: (No tax is charged)

Initial Application  $66.35
Renewal:  $66.35

Business Operator Certificate: $33.00

Please make cheque or money order payable to the Minister of Finance.
