Ragged Harbour Beach Designation

made under subsection 5(1) of the

Beaches Act

R.S.N.S. 1989, c. 32

O.I.C. 84-680 (June 12, 1984), N.S. Reg. 114/84


The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the Minister of Lands and Forests dated the 25th day of May, A.D., 1984, pursuant to Section 5(1) of Chapter 6 of the Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1975, the Beaches Preservation and Protection Act, is pleased to designate as a beach an area of land lying landward from the mean high watermark of Ragged Harbour Beach, in the County of Queens, as shown outlined in red on the copy of Crown Land Records Office Plan No. E-13-49 marked Schedule “B” and described in Schedule “A”, both Schedules attached to and forming part of the report and recommendation.



Schedule “A”


All that certain area of land lying landward from the mean high watermark of Ragged Harbour in the vicinity of East Berlin, County of Queens, Province of Nova Scotia and being shown on Plan No. E-13-49 signed by David L. Crooker, N.S.L.S. on the 18th day of May 1984, said plan being on file in the Crown Land Records Office of the Department of Lands and Forests, Halifax, Nova Scotia, said area of land being more particularly described as follows:


Beginning at Survey Marker No. Q2735 situate on the mean high watermark of Ragged Harbour, said survey marker being (by grid bearings referenced to the Nova Scotia 3° Modified Transverse Mercator Projection, Zone 5, Central Meridian 64° 30' Longitude West) S 68° 21' 23" E, 10,429.83 feet from Nova Scotia Co-ordinate Monument No. 21115 having co-ordinate values of North 16, 024, 598.43 feet and East 18, 019, 926.23 feet based on a 1979 redefined adjustment;


From thence N 12° 41' 45" W, 168.90 feet to Survey Marker No. Q2734;


Thence S 72° 27' 09" W, 296.29 feet to Survey Marker No. Q2733;


Thence S 40° 05' 04" W, 1030.34 feet to Survey Marker No. Q2732;


Thence S 22° 41' 56" W, 1032.39 feet to Survey Marker No. Q2731;


Thence S 03° 47' 16" E, 432.95 feet to Survey Marker No. Q2730, said survey marker being N 18° 16' 54" E, 4634.49 feet from Nova Scotia Co-ordinate Monument No. 16526 having co-ordinate values of North 16, 014, 253.70 feet and East 18, 026, 814.07 feet based on a 1979 adjustment;


Thence N 86° 12' 44" E, 20 feet more or less to the mean high watermark of Ragged Harbour;


Thence in a northeasterly direction following the sinuosities of the mean high watermark of Ragged Harbour, 2700 feet more or less to the place of beginning, containing 8 acres more or less.


Excepting and reserving from the above described area the existing access road which runs in a northerly direction across the beach, the said access road being approximately 20 feet in width and shown on the aforementioned Plan No. E-13-49.
