Headlights, Vehicle Lighting and Glass O.I.C. 73-551, N.S. Reg. 49/73
The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the Minister of Highways dated the 5th day of June, A.D., 1973, pursuant to Section 178 of Chapter 191 of the Revised Statutes, 1967 [Section 200 of Chapter 293 of the Revised Statutes, 1989], the Motor Vehicle Act, is pleased to(1) (a) adopt the standards and specifications established by the Canadian Standards Association in CSA Standard D106.2-1973--Vehicle Headlights Conforming to ECE Regulations, without modification or variation; and
(b) order that any vehicle headlights used on or incorporated in a motor vehicle manufactured on or after January 1, 1974, conform to the standards and specifications established in the said CSA Standard D106.2-1973; and
(c) order that no person shall incorporate or use in or on any motor vehicle manufactured on or after January 1, 1974, a headlight which does not conform to the standards and specifications established in the said CSA Standard D106.2-1973;
(2) (a) adopt the standards and specifications established by the Canadian Standards Association in CSA Standard D106.1-1972--Vehicle Lighting Equipment (North American Practice) without modification or variation; and
(b) order that any vehicle lighting equipment used on or incorporated in a motor vehicle or trailer manufactured on or after January 1, 1974, conform to the standards and specifications established in the said CSA Standard D106.1-1972; and
(c) order that no person shall incorporate or use in or on any motor vehicle manufactured on or after January 1, 1974, lighting equipment which does not conform to the standards and specifications established in the said CSA Standard D106.1-1972;
(3) (a) adopt the standards and specifications established by the Canadian Standards Association in CSA Standard D263-1972--Safety Glazing Materials for Glazing Motor Vehicles Operating on Land Highways, without modification or variation; and
(b) order that any laminated glass or safety glazing material used on or incorporated in a motor vehicle or trailer manufactured on or after January 1, 1974, conform to the standards and specifications established in the said CSA Standard D263-1972; and
(c) order that no person shall incorporate or use laminated glass or safety glazing material in or on any motor vehicle manufactured on or after January 1, 1974, which does not conform to the standards and specifications established in the said CSA Standard D263-1972.
O.I.C. 74-470, N.S. Reg. 45/74
The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the Minister of Highways dated the 30th day of April, A.D., 1974, and pursuant to Section 178 of Chapter 191 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1967 [Section 200 of Chapter 193 of the Revised Statutes, 1989], the Motor Vehicle Act, is pleased to make a regulation in the following form, prohibiting the sale of certain equipment used on motor vehicles and trailers unless the equipment conforms to C.S.A. Standards:No person shall sell or offer for sale equipment mentioned in Order in Council 73-551 dated the 12th day of June, A.D., 1973, which:
(a) is manufactured on or after January 1, 1974;
(b)does not meet the standards and specifications established by the Canadian Standards Association in the several CSA Standards mentioned in the said Order in Council No. 73-551.
Large School Buses and Brake Fluid O.I.C. 74-767, N.S. Reg. 65/74
The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the Minister of Highways dated the 2nd day of July, A.D., 1974, and pursuant to Section 178 [Section 200] of the Motor Vehicle Act, is pleased to(1) (a) adopt the standards and specifications established by the Canadian Standards Association in CSA Standard D250-M 1982, school buses, without modification or variation; and
(b) order that any equipment, material or device used on or incorporated in a large school bus manufactured on or after April 1, 1984, conform to the standards and specifications established in the said CSA Standard D250-M 1982; and
(c) order that no person shall incorporate or use in or on a large school bus manufactured on or after April 1, 1984, any equipment, material or device which does not conform to the standards and specifications established in the said CSA Standard D250-M 1982.
Subsection (1) replaced: O.I.C. 84-288, N.S. Reg. 52/84.(2) define “large school bus” in clauses (b) and (c) of subsection (1) hereof as meaning a vehicle designed to transport school children and intended to seat twenty-four or more passengers;
(3) (a) adopt the standards and specifications established by the Canadian Standards Association in CSA Standard D265-1974, Motor Vehicle Brake Fluids without modification or variation; and
(b) order that any motor vehicle brake fluid used in a vehicle manufactured on or after January 1, 1975, be of a standard at least equivalent to the standard established in the said CSA Standard D265-1974; and
(c) order that no person shall sell or offer for sale motor vehicle brake fluid that is manufactured on or after January 1, 1975, unless the motor vehicle brake fluid is of a standard at least equivalent to the standard established in the said CSA Standard D265-1974.
Tires O.I.C. 78-918, N.S. Reg. 170/78
The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the Minister of Highways dated the 11th day of August, A.D., 1978, pursuant to Section 178 of Chapter 191 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1967 [Section 200 of Chapter 293 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1989], the Motor Vehicle Act, is pleased to(a) repeal Orders in Council 71-968 dated the 28th day of September, A.D., 1971, 71-969 dated the 28th day of September, A.D., 1971, and sub-paragraphs (i) and (ii) of paragraph (a) of Order in Council 75-39 dated the 9th day of January, A.D., 1975, effective the 31st day of December, A.D., 1977; and
(b) prohibit the sale, offering for sale, or use in or on a vehicle of any tire manufactured on or after the 1st day of January, A.D., 1979, and in respect of which a safety standard has been prescribed by regulations made under Chapter 96 of the Statutes of Canada 1974-75-76, the Motor Vehicle Tire Safety Act, unless the tire bears the national tire safety mark applied to the tire in accordance with the Motor Vehicle Tire Safety Act.
Tire Retreading O.I.C. 84-187 (February 21, 1984), N.S. Reg. 25/84
The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the Minister of Transportation dated the 30th day of January A. D., 1984, pursuant to Section 178 of Chapter 191 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1967, as amended, the Motor Vehicle Act, is pleased to amend the Regulations Respecting Tires and Rims made on the 28th day of September, A. D., 1971, by adding minimum standards for tire retreading, in the form set forth in Schedule “A” which is attached to and forms part of the report and recommendation.4 The minimum standards for tire retreading are those set out in the Canadian Standards Association CSA Standard D238.3-M1979 on tire retreading, as amended from time to time, which by this reference is made a part hereof.
Trailers O.I.C. 73-547, N.S. Reg. 45/73
The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the Minister of Highways dated the 23rd day of May, A.D., 1973, and pursuant to Section 178 of Chapter 191 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1967 [Section 200 of Chapter 293 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1989], the Motor Vehicle Act, is pleased to adopt the standards and specifications established by the Canadian Standards Association in CSA Standard Z240.1-1972 Vehicle Equipment Requirements for Mobile Homes and Recreational Vehicles without modification or variation, and to order than any equipment used on or incorporated in a trailer manufactured on or after January 1, 1974, conform to the standards and specifications established in the said CSA Standard Z240.1-1972 Vehicle Equipment Requirements for Mobile Homes and Recreational Vehicles.
CSA Approval O.I.C. 75-39, N.S. Reg. 68/75
The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the Minister of Highways dated the 7th day of January, A.D., 1975, and pursuant to Section 178 [Section 200] of the Motor Vehicle Act, is pleased to(a) designate the following:
Subclauses (a)(i)-(ii) repealed by O.I.C. 78-918, N.S. Reg. 170/78.(iii) Vehicle Headlights, used on or incorporated in motor vehicles manufactured on or after January 1, 1974, as referred to in Order in Council 73-551 dated the 12th day of June, A.D., 1973;
(iv) Vehicle Lighting Equipment used on or incorporated in a motor vehicle or trailer manufactured on or after January 1, 1974, as referred to in Order in Council 73-551 dated the 12th day of June, A.D., 1973;
(v) Laminated glass or safety glazing material used on or incorporated in a motor vehicle or trailer manufactured on or after January 1, 1974, as referred to in Order in Council 73-551 dated the 12th day of June, A.D., 1973;
(vi) Equipment used on or incorporated in a trailer manufactured on or after January 1, 1974, as referred to in Order in Council
73-457[73-547] dated the 12th day of June, A.D., 1973;(vii) Equipment, material or device used on or incorporated in a large school bus manufactured on or after January 1, 1975, as referred to in Order in Council 74-767 dated the 15th day of July, A.D., 1974;
(viii) Motor Vehicle brake fluid used in a vehicle manufactured on or after January 1, 1975, as referred to in Order in Council 74-767 dated the 15th day of July, A.D., 1974;
(b) designate the Canadian Standards Association as an organization to test and mark its approval of equipment designated in paragraph (a) hereof;
(c) prohibit the sale, offering for sale, incorporation of, or use in or on, a vehicle, of the equipment designated in paragraph (a) hereof that is not marked as approved by the Canadian Standards Association;
(d) determine that for the purposes of this Order the Canadian Standards Association shall be deemed to have marked its approval of equipment if the Canadian Standards Association uses a certificate which states that the equipment meets the requirements of the CSA Standards in respect of which the equipment is tested.
