Registration of Students and New Residents Regulations

made under subsection 302(1) of the
Motor Vehicle Act
R.S.N.S. 1989, c. 293

Order in Council 72-801

The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the acting Minister of Highways dated the 13th day of July, 1972, and pursuant to Section [subsection] 270(1) of Chapter 191, of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1967, the Motor Vehicle Act, [subsection 302(1), R.S.N.S. 1989, c. 293] is pleased to determine that Order in Council 71-643 made the 29th day of June, 1971, shall cease to have effect on the 31st day of July, 1972, and to determine that the following shall come into force on the 1st day of August, 1972:

No fee shall be payable where

(a) an operator's class driver's license is issued by the Department pursuant to the provisions of Section [subsection] 65(4) [73(4)] of the Motor Vehicle Act; and

(b) a passenger vehicle is registered and a vehicle permit and number plates are issued,

if this is done in exchange for an operator's class driver's license, passenger vehicle registration, vehicle permit and number plates duly issued

(c) in the Province of New Brunswick or the Province of Prince Edward Island; or

(d) in the applicant's home province or state where the applicant

(1) is a non-resident of the Province of Nova Scotia; and

(2) provides a certificate satisfactory to the Registrar of Motor Vehicles that he is a full time student attending an educational institution in the Province of Nova Scotia.
