Identification and Proof of Registration Regulations
made under Section 10 and subsection 38(1) of the
Motor Vehicle Act

1 The means of identification and proof of registration
(a) of a motor vehicle, trailer or motorcycle in respect of which the registration fee has been paid for a full registration year; or
(b) of a commercial vehicle or trailer in respect of which an installment of the registration fee has been paid for part of a registration year,
shall be a serially numbered sticker issued by the Registrar of Motor Vehicles for that registration year or part of a registration year.
2 A serially numbered sticker issued for a motorcycle or motor-driven cycle shall be affixed to and displayed in the centre at the bottom of the number plate.

2A A serially numbered sticker issued for any vehicle referred to in clause 1(a) or 1(b), other than a motorcycle or motor-driven cycle, shall be affixed to and displayed on the upper left-hand or right-hand embossed corner of the number plate, as directed by the Department.

3 On payment of the prescribed registration fee or installment of the registration fee for a registration year or part of a registration year, the registered owner shall be issued with one sticker for each number plate issued in respect of the vehicle.
4 Despite anything in these regulations, a receipt issued by the Department for payment for a registration year is proof of registration for 10 days from the date the receipt was issued, and a serially numbered sticker is not required to be displayed during that 10-day period.

Registrar's Order made pursuant to Section 2 on December 12, 1990, in Halifax, Nova Scotia
Pursuant to Section 2 of the regulations respecting means of identification and proof of registration of vehicles pursuant to Section 38(1) of the Motor Vehicle Act, and, pursuant to Section 5 of the Regulations respecting Motor-Driven Cycles [made] pursuant to Section 10 of the Motor Vehicle Act, I hereby prescribe that stickers shall be affixed to and displayed on number plates in the following manner:
For the registration year 1992
Stickers for motorcycles and motor-driven cycles to be affixed to and displayed approximately centre at the bottom of the number plate. Stickers for all other vehicles shall be affixed to and displayed on the upper left-hand embossed corner of the number plate.
For the Registration year 1993
Stickers for all vehicles except motorcycles and motor-driven cycles to be affixed to and displayed on the upper right-hand embossed corner of the number plate.
