Citation

1        These regulations may be cited as the Police Identity Management Regulations.

Definitions

2        In these regulations,

 

“Act” means the Police Identity Management Act.

Rendering police articles and police uniforms unserviceable

3        (1)    A police article is rendered unserviceable by being permanently encased in acrylic.

 

          (2)    A police uniform is rendered unserviceable by being permanently altered in a manner so that it cannot be worn.

 

          (3)    The owner of a police article or police uniform must pay the costs associated with rendering the police article or police uniform unserviceable.

Notice of dramatic work using police items

4        (1)    No later than 14 days before the date a police article, police uniform, vehicle with police-vehicle marking or police-vehicle equipment is to be used for the purpose of a dramatic work under clause 4(2)(b) of the Act, notice of the dramatic work must be provided to all of the following:

 

                   (a)      the chief of police or commanding officer of the police agency in the jurisdiction where the dramatic work is to be performed;

 

                   (b)     the Public Safety and Security Division of the Nova Scotia Department of Justice;

 

                   (c)      the chief administrative officer or clerk of the municipality where the dramatic work is to be performed.

 

          (2)    Notice of a dramatic work provided under subsection (1) must include all of the following information:

 

                   (a)      a list of the items to be used;

 

                   (b)     the dates on which the items will be used;

 

                   (c)      the location where the items will be used;

 

                   (d)     the location where the items will be stored when not in use;

 

                   (e)      a plan describing how the items will be safely stored;

 

                   (f)      a plan describing how the items will be returned to their source of origin or presented to a police agency for disposal or destruction in accordance with subsection 6(5) of the Act;

 

                   (g)     the name and contact information of the production staff member who is responsible for the possession, storage and use of the items;

 

                   (h)     any additional information requested by anyone to whom notice of the dramatic work must be provided under subsection (1).
