Graves Island Provincial Park Designation
made under Section 8 of the
Provincial Parks Act
R.S.N.S. 1989, c. 367
O.I.C. 71-1161 (November 23, 1971), N.S. Reg. 91/71
The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the Minister of Lands and Forests dated the 15th day of November, A.D., 1971, pursuant to the provisions of Section 2 of the Provincial Parks Act, is pleased to:
(a) constitute all that area of land including land covered with water owned by Her Majesty in right of the Province of Nova Scotia and situate at East Chester in the County of Lunenburg, Province of Nova Scotia, to be a provincial Park, said area of land being included within the boundaries of the lands described in Schedule “A” attached to the report and recommendation and shown outlined on the Plan of Survey marked Schedule “B” attached to the report and recommendation; and
(b) declare the name by which the park shall be known as “Graves Island Provincial Park”.
Schedule “A”
Graves Island Provincial Park
All that certain lot, piece or parcel of land situate at Graves Island, County of Lunenburg, Province of Nova Scotia, shown as Lot “A” and Lot “B” on Plan #B-21-1D recorded in the Crown Land Records Office, Department of Lands and Forests, Halifax and being more particularly described as follows:
Lot “A”
Beginning at a Crown Land iron post marked L571 standing on the easterly boundary of Highway No. 3 leading from Graves Island to Chester, said post marking the most northerly corner of lands now or formerly owned by Reuben Rafuse;
From thence south fifty-nine degrees fifty-six minutes forty-six seconds east, one thousand three hundred thirty-four decimal sixty-seven feet along the northeasterly boundary of the said Rafuse lands to a Crown Land iron post marked L572 standing on the mean high water line of Mahone Bay;
Thence northeasterly following the mean high water line of Mahone Bay and across the causeway shown on the said plan, three hundred fifty-six feet more or less to a point marking the southerly corner of lands now or formerly owned by David Tomset;
Thence north thirty-one degrees twelve minutes thirty-seven seconds west, eighty-eight decimal twenty-five feet along the southerly boundary of the aforementioned Tomset Lands to Crown Land iron post marked L573;
Thence north sixty degrees thirteen minutes thirty seconds west, four hundred fifty-eight decimal forty-six feet along the southerly boundary of the aforementioned Tomset Lands to a point;
Thence north sixty degrees three minutes thirty-one seconds west, seven hundred seventy-three decimal forty-seven feet along the southerly boundary of the aforementioned Tomset Lands to Crown Land iron post marked L574 standing on the easterly boundary of Highway No. 3 leading from Graves Island to Chester;
Thence southwesterly following the easterly boundary of Highway No. 3, three hundred eighty-one decimal eighty-seven feet to the place of beginning containing eleven decimal nine acres.
Lot “B”
Comprising Graves Island so-called and all the land contained therein together with the causeway so-called being the connecting link between the mainland and Graves Island; containing one hundred and eleven acres more or less.
