ACADIAN AFFAIRS -Committee Created to Assist Acadian Community
Neil LeBlanc, Minister responsible for Acadian Affairs, has created an advisory committee to help meet the needs of the Acadian community.
"The members of this committee come from across Nova Scotia and from diverse backgrounds," said Mr. LeBlanc. "As Minister responsible for Acadian Affairs, I understand the importance of being in touch with the community. The mandate of this committee is still open and committee members will help to determine its role and objectives."
Appointed members are:
- Delphis Comeau, municipal clerk, Municipality of Clare
- Stan Surette, president, Fédération acadienne de la
Nouvelle-Écosse - Jos Cottreau, executive director, Conseil de développement
économique - Yvette Aucoin, school board member, Conseil scolaire
acadien provincial - Allister Surette, president, Collège de l'Acadie
- Ben Samson, teacher, Richmond Region
- Jolene Larade, student, Université Ste-Anne
- Vaughne Madden, executive director, Congrès mondial acadien

Mr. LeBlanc will meet with the committee three to four times a year.
"I look forward to our first meeting. Many issues need to be addressed in a number of areas, including education, culture, tourism and the economy," he said.
