Shubenacadie Sam Predicts an Early Spring

Nova Scotia’s famous furry forecaster Shubenacadie Sam did not see his shadow today, Feb. 2, meaning an early spring for Nova Scotia.

Folklore says that when Sam does not see his shadow, we can expect an early spring.

Sam appeared at 8 a.m. before a large crowd and a live webcam at the Groundhog Day ceremony held at the Shubenacadie Wildlife Park. Nova Scotia’s time zone means Sam is the first groundhog to make his prediction in North America.
