The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the Attorney General and Minister of Justice dated January 12, 2017, and pursuant to Sections 3 and 5 of Chapter 238 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1989, the Provincial Court Act, and Section 5 of Chapter 159 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1989, the Family Court Act, is pleased, effective January 23, 2017, to appoint Catherine Martina Benton,Q.C. of Auburndale, Nova Scotia, a barrister of the Supreme Court of Nova Scotia of at least five years standing, to be a Judge of the Provincial Court and the Family Court for the Judicial District of the Province of Nova Scotia.
