The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the Minister responsible for the Human Rights Act, dated September 10, 2025, and pursuant to Section 22 of Chapter 214 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1989, the Human Rights Act, is pleased to:
(a) appoint Shawna Paris, K.C. of Halifax Regional Municipality, as a commissioner of the Nova Scotia Human Rights Commission, and designate Shawna Paris, K.C. as Chair, for a term of two years commencing October 9, 2025;
(b) appoint Dr. Muhammad Khan and Quy Linh, both of Halifax Regional Municipality, as commissioners of the Nova Scotia Human Rights Commission, each for a term of two years commencing October 11, 2025;
(c) reappoint Jenifer Tsang of Halifax Regional Municipality, as a commissioner of the Nova Scotia Human Rights Commission, for a term of two years commencing October 11, 2025;
(d) order that Shawna Paris, K.C. be remunerated at the rate of $6,000 per year and $100 for each half day spent at duly called meetings of the Commission and be reimbursed for reasonable expenses incurred in fulfilling duties as Commissioner and designated Chair of the Nova Scotia Human Rights Commission, provided such reimbursements do not exceed those normally payable to members of the civil service; and
(e) order that Dr. Muhammad Khan, Quy Linh and Jenifer Tsang be remunerated at the rate of $100 for each half day spent at duly called meetings of the Commission and be reimbursed for reasonable expenses incurred in fulfilling their duties as Commissioners of the Nova Scotia Human Rights Commission, provided such reimbursements do not exceed those normally payable to members of the civil service.
