      Victoria by the grace of God of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland Queen defender of the Faith and of the United Church of England and Ireland on earth the Supreme Head.

      To all to whom these Presents shall come Greeting

      Whereas certain parcels of land in the township of Preston in the County of Halifax were formerly allotted for the use of a number of persons who settled thereon but who have never received a formal title to the same —

      And Whereas many of the said persons have since sold their interest in their respective lots or have died —

      And Whereas it is our pleasure to convey to the settlers on the said lands and the heirs of such of them as have died and the assigns of those who have sold, a title to their respective lots for the purpose of confirming their possession of and rendering more beneficial and effective their interest in the said lots, —

      Now Know Ye that We of Our Special Grace certain knowledge and mere motion Have given and granted and by these Presents Do give and grant as hereinafter mentioned unto the persons hereinafter named or described the several lots pieces and parcels of land situated in the township of Preston in the county of Halifax containing in the whole by estimation one thousand and eight hundred acres more or less, which are classed numbered and designated on the plan hereunto annexed that is to say, — The following lots comprised in the division or block letter A on the said plan in manner following that is to say, —

plan containing in the whole the said quantity of one thousand and eight hundred acres more or less and have such shape form and marks as appears by the said plan thereof hereunto annexed together with all woods underwoods timber and timber trees lakes ponds fisheries waters watercourses profits commodities appurtenances and hereditaments whatsoever thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining together with the privilege of hunting hawking and fowling in and upon the same saving and reserving nevertheless to us our heirs and successors all and singular the mines of gold and silver, coal, Iron, Stone, Limestone, Slatestone, Slate — rock, tin, copper, lead, and ores of every kind and description, To Have and To Hold the said several lots and parcels of land and all and singular other the premises hereby granted unto the said several grantees their heirs and assigns to their use severally and respectively and to the said Trustees hereinbefore named and to the survivors and survivor of them and to the heirs and assigns of such survivor in trust as aforesaid for ever in free and common Socage Provided always that the grant shall be registered in the Secretary's Office of Our Said Province of Nova Scotia to which Registry shall be attached a duplicate of the plan hereunto annexed. Given under the Great Seal of Our said Province of Nova Scotia.

      Witness Our trusty and well beloved Lucius Bentinck Viscount Falkland Knight Grand Cross of the Guelphic order and member of Her Majesty's Most honorable Privy Council Lieutenant Governor and Commander in Chief in and over our said Province this     day of     in the year of Our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty two.

      It appearing to me that the within lands have been allotted as within mentioned and that survey has been duly made and returned by the Surveyor General of Lands unto the Secretary's Office with a plan and description of the lands hereinbefore mentioned and described and it also appearing that no part of said lands are (sic) contained within any of the reservations made for Her Majesty's Service I have in obedience to Her Majesty's instructions prepared the foregoing draught of a grant and I know of no objections to passing the same pursuant to the foregoing form care being taken to annex the plan under the Great Seal when it is affixed thereto; all which I certify to whom it may concern this Twenty — third day of May in the year one thousand eight hundred and forty two.
