Letter of Malachy Salter to his wife about a slave
In this letter Salter, a prominent merchant from Boston, asks his wife who is visiting their home town to purchase a slave. Slaves were routinely imported into Nova Scotia, but not in large numbers until the Loyalist influx of 1783.
