28 November 1805
Memorial of Committee of Merchants to Assembly. They have petitioned the King's ministers, stating the distressed situation of N.Scotian merchants caused by free trade practised illegally between the United States and the West Indies. Favourable answers of ministers made nugatory by removal of so many fishermen and their families to U.S., where conditions are made more favourable by bounties etc. Committee prays Assembly to grant similar aids.
