Dr. William Harrison died at Middle Musquodoboit on 18 July 1864. His will (1863)and estate papers (1864) show the usefulness of such documents in built heritage research. Dr. Harrison’s estate papers list the contents of the sitting room, dining room, drawing room, bedroom and other items in his residence and farm. Although most estate papers do not identify the furniture in each room, many estate papers do list the contents of the house while others only summarize the value of the furniture and other household items. In many estate papers, the value of the livestock is often worth more than the contents of the house.
