On Monday the 10th inst the Canadian Red Cross society made formal application for the services of Quartermaster-Sergt Maguire for the purpose of taking over the Relief Hospital supplies. He was therefore detailed with two N.C.O's and two men from the Dental Staff, who with twenty men from the C.A.M.C., Montreal and Toronto, and several commercial travellers received, stored and issued many tons of drugs, emergency supplies for the Hospitals, cots, blankets, mattresses, etc, which were arriving from all sources, principally the Boston Relief Ships "Calvin Austin" and "Northland" and the R.M.S.P. "Chaleur", about 15,000 tons in all being received.

This staff under Q.M.S. Maguire worked practically night and day and were complimented by H.R.H. the Duke of Devonshire on his visit to the Technical College.

The Canadian Army Dental Surgery with its equipment was thrown open for the treatment of the victims of the explosion and the asceptic Oral Surgery and waiting-room served admirably for operations by the eye specialist, who received every consideration and assistance from the Dental Staff.
