A History of Mining Activity in Nova Scotia, 1720-1992

"Bankhead of old Foord Pit, Albion Mines near Stellarton, NS"

Foord Pit Winding and Pumping Engines, Pulley Frame and Heapstead previous to the explosion of November 1880. "Heapstead" is a term referring to the buildings and works around a mine shaft, including an artificial embankment where the winding gear is located.
