the Province, to explain to them the wishes of the Government, and to invite them to co-operate in the permanent settlement and instruction of their people. He shall parcel out to each head of a family a portion of the Reservations, conveying the same for life or for a term of years, with the right to sell or bequeathe to Indians and to them only.
4. He shall bear in mind that his chief duty will be to endeavor to promote the permanent settlement and education of the Micmacs. With this view he may aid them in the purchase of implements and stock, and in the erection of a dwelling for each Chief, a School House and place of worship, giving assistance mainly to those who show a disposition to help themselves, and who, by their industry and sobriety may seem to evince a desire to co-operate in carrying out the benevolent objects of the Legislation.
5. He shall make arrangements with the Trustees or Teachers of any Schools or Academies throughout the Province for the board and tuition of such number of Indian Children as may be desirous of acquiring Education, establish Sunday
