Inscription au sujet du mariage de Deborah Cuffy et de John Carroll, à Liverpool, tirée du Journal de Simeon Perkins, vol. 1 (transcription dactylographiée)

The marriage between Deborah Cuffy, a free black woman, and John Carroll, an Irishman, was the cause of some controversy among the magistrates of Liverpool.

Other entries in Perkins's diary show that, as was typical of the New England Planters, he was a slave owner. The location of Perkins's original diary, vol. 1, is unknown.
