Well! Here's Hoping, Your Excellency!

McRitchie cartoon from the Halifax Herald (Halifax, NS), 20 December 1920, p.1: "At Lunenburg on Saturday, His Excellency, The Governor-General drove the first spike in a new schooner which is being constructed with the hope that it will represent Canada, in the great International schooner race next year. When the Halifax Herald promoted the fishermen's race and later, the International race, few people in this province realized that it would develop into such an important event. At the present time THREE NEW SCHOONERS are under construction for this great contest, one in Lunenburg, one in Shelburne, and a third, 'The Mayflower', in Boston."
