Lumbering

Lumbering was a huge industry for Yarmouth County, creating countless jobs and increasing the area’s economy. Shown in this photograph is a saw mill situated on the shore of Killam’s Lake in Richmond, Yarmouth County. The mill was owned by Walter Churchill of Brooklyn, Yarmouth County. The lumber here was trucked by oxen teams.
