Arrivall, which being Unanimously Agreed to, was Accordingly Done And Approved of

     Ordered that Major Mascarene and the Members of the Council bound to Canso Present the Same
Alex.r Bourgs petition begging pardon.

     The Honourable Presid.t Laid also before the Board a Petition of Alexander Bourg's of Mines begging Pardon for Sev.1 Misdemanours which being Read

     Agreed that no Regard be had to it : And further Resolved that the Honourable L.t Governor Order all OriginaIl papers and Contracts Whatsoever in any ways Relating to this Government out of his Hands

     At a Council held at the Honourable L.t Governour John Doucetts house on fryday the 9 th of December 1725.

three ffrenchmen strangers Supposed to be Spies Examined

     The Honourable Presid.t Acquainted the Board that there were three french Strangers Come (as they Say) from Canada, and having no Passport from the Governor of that Place, or any Credentialls but from the Bishop there signiying that they had Duely frequented the Communion of that Church, And the Said three Strangers having Reported that they were Gentlemen belonging to Old france and had killed &Aelig; neas and another Indian [143] Indian And that they were Come here for Refuge he Asked the Oppinion of the Board what he Should Do in this ease; Beleiving them Rather come as Spies in Order to Discover either the State of the Town and Garrison or to Entice the Desertion of the Troops

     Whereupon the Board Judged Necessary that they Should be put into Custody and Examined Separately in order to find out if possible, the Truth of their Designes
