Mett According to Adjournment, the Governor & all the same Members (Except Mr Shirreff) being Present
In Relat.n to ye Inhab.ts of St. John's.

     The Govr Aquainted the Board that he had confined Prisoners to the Guard two of the Inhabitants of St John's vizt Joseph Bellefontaine & Michl Bergeron dit D'ambois for Contempt & disrespect in not coming to wait upon him on their Arrival here with Captn Blin On saturday last was sen-night

     The Prisoners aforesaid being sent for, they humbly ask'd pardon for their fault & said that it was Owing to their Ignorance & their Opinion of their being of too Mean a Condition to presume to wait upon His Honour

     The Govr desired them to give him a List of the ffrench Inhabitants Settled at St Johns which being taken by Major Philipps was as ffollows vizt Married [452]
