with Prudent Robisheau as Interpreter; The said Chief presented the Governor with two Letters, One from Monsr Cheverau the Priest who had stopt at Cape Sables on Accot of his Health as he pretended, & another from himself touching the plunder said to be taken from on Board the Brigantine Baltimore which were Likewise read

     Then the Governor proceeded to Examine the said Chief touching the Misfortunes which happen'd to the said Brigt Baltimore at Tibogue, The said Chief being ask'd what was become of the Guns & the Mainsail of the said Vessell [454] Vessell which are Wanting, The said Indian declared that there was two schooners of New England aboard of the Brigantine & that it was generally beleived that the said schooners had Carried doff the guns & ye Mainsail aforesd That he was at La Have when the Brigt was first Discovered by the Indians, that he knew nothing of their having pillaged the said Vessell till he found it out by their making a better Appearance as to their Cloaths than when he left them; That upon his return he mett with five dead bodies on the shore, which he Burried

     Then the Governor by Consent of the Board adjourn'd the Consideration of the Governor of Cape Breton's Letter till next meeting & orderd the Same to be translated into English

An Answer to Gov.r St. Ovid's Letter laid before the Board & Consid.d

     His Honour Aquainted the Board that he had Conveen'd them to take their Opinion about an Answer he had Order'd the Secretary to prepare to Monsr St Ovide's Letter read the last Council day, there being now an Opportunity by Mr
