behalf of one Brusard and other offending Inhabitants whom he had pardon'd puerely at their Requests) to prevent any Such behaviour for the future, and to give him an Answer in Writting whether they knew of Any Cause given from this His Majestys Government for Such a Disorderly behaviour amongst their Young People, for that on his part, if a Remedy was not Speedily Applyed he would nolonger forgive but [127] But Severely Punish those who Should be found Guilty, as he had Caus'd La Pier one of the Inhabitants Now in Prison for the Gross Affront he had Given to one of the Council of this His Majestys Province; But that as he had allready So he should Continue to protect & Encourage all those who Shall keep themselves within the just Bounds of the Duty & Obedience they owe to this His Majestys King George's Government
 





     The Deputees Made Ans. that they were heartily Sorry that either their Young People (who perhaps through Ignorance) or Any of Riper years Amongst them Should after So much Lenity and Goodness Shown them from this Government, behave themselves in the Least Disrespectfully towards it, or to any of the Gentlemen or others thereunto belonging, and that Such people Riohly Deserved such Punishments as the Government Should Cause to be Inflicted for Such Offences
 


     That for their own parts According to their Duty and promisses, they would Carefully Admonish the Inhabitants to a Peaceable & Respectfull obedience and that they Should Respectively Correct their Children Upon all Appearances of Affronts and of Unbecoming Deportment

     That they had no Reason to Wish the Indians Returne, and that they knew of None who had Any Such Dependance upon it, or any Designe thereby Either to Revolt, or to Leave the Country, But if that there is Any Such evil Designing people Amongst [128] Amongst them they no ways Deserved the Least protection of the Government; And that they would According to the Governours Desire present him with their Ans.r in Writting
