Dear Sir,
By reference to my correspondance with Sir [Rupert] George You will find, that, a small settlement of Indians [right side edge missing] been made at the head of Bear. River, - and, by his memoradum [many?] will perceive, that, he took [no] little interest in its welfare --

Thus far, the endeavor to plant [these] few wild [illegible] has been attended with as much success as could in [illegible] [season be expected. Should you wish for more particular [information] as regards this project, either for your own satisfaction or [illegible] of the [President], I beg leave to refer You to the Bearer of this, Charles Budd, who has been very useful to me in my dealings [with] these poor savages -

The donations hitherto afforded these Indians have [proved?] as effectually beneficial as they were encouraging - they have [illegible] two supplies, - and, if the funds appropriated to their benefit be [?not] yet exhausted, they should, according to my original proposal, [have?] a third -This last one I would recommend to be in the shape
