Sir,
In reference to the application of Francis Paul and Joseph Paul, whose petition has been submitted to me, and who have applied for land in Musquodoboit, I beg leave to state for the information of His Excellency, the Lieutenant Governor and Council, that in consequence of no survey having been made of it, a part of the Indian reserve in the County of Cumberland has been granted, and consequently the quantity of land intended for the use of the Micmacs has been reduced. The above petitioners who are honest and industrious men have commenced clearing land situated at the mouth of a stream falling into Ship Harbour Lake, in the County of Halifax, where fish at certain seasons may be taken abundantly.
