Spoils of War: Privateering in Nova Scotia

American and French prisoners-of-war escape


Soon American prisoners-of-war joined their French counterparts in Halifax’s Melville Island prison. Some captives were released into the town, if they promised not to flee. However the taste of freedom led some to attempt escape.
