Sir the west end of the Island is washing away as fast that it is now very near the house at the west end Settlement and we shall have to remove the buildings this Summer or loose them entirely I am thinking of gutting them down and moving them down about four miles and we shall very much want about a [word?] of [word?] to rebuild the chimnies. [sic]

I will take the liberty of presenting you with a small memorandum

1 hhL of [word?]
3 bags of Shale
6 spike gimblets
6 half spike [To?]

and you will much oblige your humble and obedient servant & wishing you health and every blessing. I remain yours

Edward Hodgson
