Sable Island, Feb; 18th 1848

May it Please your Excellency

I the undersigned having forwarded to your Excellency
Abstracts of Casualties that have occurred here from time to time, with other
General Information, with a view of affording to your Excellency, some
agreeable Information, also a Statement of some unremunerated Services
rendered by me, in which your Excellency has been pleased to give as your
opinion, that I was not entitled to further remuneration, I consequently
Bow with Humble Submission to the Declared opinion of the Commander
in Chief, although that conclusion has been come too under [misinformat-?]
[-ion?], for which your Excellency is no ways to blame;

And I also Beg leave to state that the Report of Robert
Nicholls is not Correct, he disobeyed orders, and absented himself without
leave without showing and cause for it, And there is a Law here made by
Sir James
