reprimand me for Practices on my part that were injurious to the Respectability and Interests of the Establishment; I have practised nothing against the Respectability, or Interests of the Establishment, without it is working too hard, and making too much Money for it, that is Injurious, as my great + Herculean Labours for the past year fully shews, And every thing that I have done has a contrary effect from being Injurious, and all the Injury that has been done to the Establishment, has been done by others, and not by me; - the next thing I have to notice is where [when?] you state that you have endeavoured to meet my Views in every way that you can, Pardon me Gentlemen if I plainly tell you this is not so, have you met my Views with regard to Liquor, have you met my Views with regard to Provissions, have you met my Views with Regard to extra Remuneration to the People; No, your views are diametrically opposed to mine and all the trouble that I have here with the people is the result of it, I am yet able to do a great Deal for this Establishment, And I much desire to be permitted to do it in peace.

And remain your Obedient Servant
Joseph Darby
