Sir John Harvey K.C.B. &c &c &c

May it please Your Excellency

It having been notified to me, that some doubt has been thrown upon the correctness of a purchase made by me / at a recent sale under the order of the Commissioners of Sable Island / of the Schooner Fulton wrecked at the Isle of Sable. I beg leave to submit for the consideration of Your Excellency a plain statement of the facts, So far as I was concerned, in the transaction and in order to place the validity of my statements beyond a doubt I have determined to verify those [these?] statements on oath.
