We lament to inform His Excellency that the forebearance on the part of the Commissioners has not resulted in the good consequences we had hoped for; And we are now compelled to report, that from information lately received with reference to his treatment of some of the passengers of the American Sch'r "Fulton" lately wrecked on Sable Island and his general conduct of late, both as regards Nichols and others, it is necessary to have a serious investigation into the charges alleged against him.

We have the honor therefore respectfully to request, that His Excellency be pleased to order of it shall appear necessary to him that Mr. Joseph Darby, shall, proceed to Halifax at the first favourable opportunity, for the purpose of answering to the charges lately made against him, which if substantiated would in our opinion operate unfavourably on the [word?] good character of the Humane Establishment at Sable Island.
