officers and the instructions of the Provincial Government and must therefore decline refunding the amount"
Will you permit us to call your attention to this matter, as we cannot see on what principle the Commmissioners of Sable Island are entitled to a commission on funds belonging to an individual whose property happened to be stranded on the Island, more particularly when that individual had already contributed a large salvage to the Island. This charge if according to law must be borne, however [illegible] it may be; but if there is no legal authority for it, your business eye will at once detect the impropriety of such a precedent and withholding what justly belongs to another.
By giving this subject your consideration when more at leisure, you will much oblige.
