About Invest Nova Scotia
Invest Nova Scotia is a unique investment fund designed to advance Nova Scotia’s economy. Its board of directors is an independent group of business and community leaders. Collectively, they provide economic development incentives to projects – not businesses – that benefit the entire province in the short and long-term.
Rather than supporting the individual or the organization, Invest Nova Scotia considers proposals that foster cooperation and collaboration in our sectors and regions. The board invests in Initiatives that demonstrate incremental economic competitiveness and productivity impacts over the long term. Projects be measureable, sustainable and support the One Nova Scotia Commission goals. The board’s focus is on opportunities where proponents demonstrate the right combination of proven leadership, financial capital, and human capital in a project.
The board is accountable to the government and to Nova Scotians through the Accountability in Economic Development Assistance Act (2013).
The Invest Nova Scotia Board was created based on recommendations by Tom Traves in his report on economic development assistance tools, and the report released by the Nova Scotia Commission on Building Our New Economy.
