     A news conference to release a series of human resource
studies of the cultural sector will take place at 2:30 p.m.,
Thursday, Jan. 19, at the Nova Scotia Centre for Craft and
Design, 1683 Barrington St., Halifax.

     The studies, which were directed by key sector
representatives over the last two years, will provide the base
for a human resources strategy to lead Canadian arts, heritage
and cultural industries into the new information economy of the
21st century.

     Federal Human Resources Development Minister Lloyd Axworthy
will receive the studies at Artspace in Winnipeg, and will make
ann announcement in response.

     The Winnipeg event will be carried live by satellite to
Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal and the Centre for Craft & Design in
Halifax. Media conferences will follow at each site.
