PREMIER--WORLD ECONOMIC FORUM
------------------------------------------------------------------
Premier John Savage has been invited to attend the World
Economic Forum, January 27-29 in Davos, Switzerland.
The forum has been held in Davos annually since 1971. It is
regarded as the world's foremost economic conference.
More than 1500 participants will attend, including more than 300
chief executives from the most influential companies in the
world.

Premier Savage is the first Atlantic premier to attend the
forum. When combined with the fact that Nova Scotia is the site
for this year's G-7 Summit, the premier's attendance at the Davos
forum will give the province unprecedented exposure on the world
stage.

"I will be able to establish personal contacts with some of
the world's foremost business leaders," the premier said.
Many of the senior executives are from companies which lead the
world in pharmaceutical, aerospace and other high-tech ventures
identified as potential growth industries in Nova Scotia.
"More importantly, I will be able to tell world business leaders
why Nova Scotia is a good place to invest," the premier said.

Premier Savage is attending the conference at the invitation
of World Economic Forum founder and president, Professor Klaus
Schwab.

In addition to attending the meetings in Davos, the premier
will also attend a luncheon in Zurich sponsored by the Canadian-
Swiss Business Association. Special mention will be made of Nova
Scotia's role in hosting this summer's G-7 Summit of world
leaders.

The premier will be accompanied to Switzerland by Alan
Steel, Nova Scotia's acting deputy minister of Intergovernmental
Affairs.
