NOTE TO EDITORS/EDUCATION--ROUND TABLE-APPRENTICESHIP AND TRAINING

Apprenticeship and skills training are the focus of a round
table to be held Oct. 28, at the Halifax Campus of the Nova
Scotia Community College. The roundtable is being held by
the Provincial Apprenticeship Board as a means to promote
and strengthen the dialogue among industry, government, and
tradespeople in an effort to streamline apprenticeship
training to meet the growing needs of the economy today and
in the future.

Participants will focus on institutional and on-the-job
training in the changing workplace. Key speakers will be Joe
Black, Acting Principal, Sydney campus, NSCC; George
MacLean, Co-ordinator of Apprenticeship Trades Training,
Institute of Technology campus, NSCC; Bert Lewis,
Co-ordinator of Program Advisory Committees, NSCC; Teunis
Voreman, Manager of Technical Services, Atlantic Tractor and
Equipment Ltd.; and Phil Nelson, Head of Maintenance
Management, Public Works and Government Services Canada,
Atlantic Region.
