  JUSTICE--BUSINESS ELECTRONIC FILING ACT
  ------------------------------------------------------------
Justice Minister Bill Gillis today introduced the Business
Electronic Filing Act which is designed to simplify the
process of doing business with government.

The act lays the foundation for business to more easily
interact with government. The legislation allows government
to identify acts and regulations that require business to
frequently interact with government. Once identified,
programs can be put in place to minimize the number of times
business must interact with government, thereby reducing
  both costs and paper.

Once systems are in place, the act allows business to file
information and required forms electronically. The
legislation is designed to simplify regulatory requirements,
eliminate duplication and improve government organizational
  arrangements.

"Anything we can do to ease the administrative burden for
business is important," said Dr Gillis. "We will also be
seeking the input of the business community before any
specific initiatives are put in place."
