NOTE TO EDITORS--COMPUTER DONATIONS

The Technology Recycling Program in Nova Scotia will receive its
largest single donation of computers to date in Halifax tomorrow,
Friday, Sept. 27. 

Jon Gerrard, federal Secretary of State for Science, Research and
Development, and Western Economic Diversification, will present
100 computers and 40 printers to the Halifax Regional School
Board at 9 a.m. at Oxford Street School, 6364 North Street. 

Dr. Gerrard will be joined by Education and Culture Minister
Robbie Harrison. Other provincial, federal and school board
officials, and community members will be in attendance. Students
from the school will demonstrate their computer skills.

The Technology Recycling Program, has brought 1700 computers to
Nova Scotia classrooms, donated by government and the private
sector. The refurbished computers are very useful in classrooms
and complement other technology in the schools.

The five major partners in the program are: the Department of
Education and Culture, Industry Canada's Computers for Schools
Program, the Nova Scotia School Boards Association,
NovaKnowledge, and the Telephone Pioneers of America.
